Let’s start in the Old Testament where Passover first shows up, shall we? Leviticus 23:5 lays it out plain and simple: It says, “In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight, is Yahweh’s Passover.” There it is! No fluff, no ambiguity. Here, Yahweh setting a date on the calendar. Then, over in Deuteronomy 16:1, we get a little more flavor: It says, “Observe the month of Abib and keep the Passover to Yahweh your Elohim, for in the month of Abib, Yahweh, your Elohim, brought you out of Egypt by night.” This isn’t just a random holy day, folks. It’s a memorial—a living memory when Almighty Yahweh, our Father in heaven, flexed His might, broke the chains of slavery, and led His people out of Egypt. Think about that. Plagues, a parted sea, a nation reborn! Yes, Passover is the ultimate holy reminder of a “do not forget where you came from” moment in the history of mankind and the universe!
But here’s where it gets real. Commemorating the Passover is not optional. Yahweh didn’t say, “Hey, if you’re feeling up for it, maybe throw a little Passover party.” No, this is a divine appointment! And if you skip it? Well, Numbers 9:13 pulls no punches: It says, “But if anyone who is clean and is not on a journey fails to keep the Passover, that person shall be cut off from his people, because he did not bring Yahweh’s offering at its appointed time; that man shall bear his sin.” Did you catch those? Cut off from His people? Bearing your sin? Yes, they are heavy! Indeed, it’s a stark reminder that ignoring Passover is not just missing a meal—it’s rejecting a covenant, a connection to Yahweh’s deliverance! There’s a cost to apathy here, and the Bible doesn’t sugarcoat it!
Now, let’s fast-forward a bit. The Old Testament sets the stage, but the New Testament brings this story into a whole new light. Enter the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 5:7. He’s writing to the church in Corinth, and he drops this bombshell: It says, “For Messiah, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” Did you catch that? Paul’s connecting the dots—Passover is not just about remembering Egypt anymore. Yes, it’s about Yahshua the Messiah! He’s saying Yahshua is the Passover lamb, the ultimate sacrifice that doesn’t just free us from Pharaoh, but from sin itself! Paul’s telling us the Passover holy day is not some dusty relic; yes, it is very much alive, pointing straight to the stake!
And speaking of Yahshua—let’s talk about the man Himself. Did He celebrate Passover? Of course, He did! Flip over to Luke 22:7-13, and we see Yahshua gearing up for the big day: It says, “Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. So Yahshua sent Apostles Peter and John, saying, ‘Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.” Yes, Yahshua’s not just tagging along here—He’s leading the celebration! And in Matthew 26:17-21, we get another glimpse: “Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Yahshua saying, ‘Where will you have us prepare for you to eat the Passover?” Yahshua does not brush it off or say, “No, we’re good.” Instead, He dives in because Passover matters! Indeed, it is personal, and it is powerful to Him and His disciples! And if the Son of Yahweh Himself made time for it, shouldn’t we also pay attention?
So what’s the takeaway here, friends? Do not forget, as it is very clear: Passover is not just a Jewish thing or an Old Testament thing—it is a heavenly thing from Almighty Yahweh! From the Torah of Leviticus to Deuteronomy, it’s a command rooted in deliverance. Numbers warns us there’s a heavy price to pay for ignoring the Passover! Paul ties it to Yahshua, the Lamb who changes everything. And Yahshua as the Savior of humanity? Yes, He did not just talk about it—He lived it, celebrated it, and transformed it into something eternal!
Now, here’s my challenge for you: do not let the commemoration of Passover pass you by. Whether you’re celebrating holy days, baking unleavened bread, or just cracking open your Bible to reflect, Passover is a chance to remember—not just what Yahweh did back then, but what He’s still doing now. Because when we skip it, we’re not just missing a meal. Yes, we’re missing a moment to stand in awe of an Elohim in heaven who saves!
As the sun sets and the stars begin to twinkle, the timeless story of Passover unfolds once more—a tale of liberation, faith, and divine promise that echoes through the ages. Yet, in the hustle of modern life, this sacred biblical holiday often fades into the background, overlooked by so many who miss its profound significance. To celebrate Passover is to step into a living narrative, to taste the unleavened bread of haste and the bitter herbs of struggle, and to honor a covenant that shaped history. It’s a call to remember not just the exodus from Egypt, but the enduring truth that freedom is a gift worth cherishing. While the world spins on, distracted by fleeting trends, those who pause to observe Passover reclaim a heritage rich with meaning—a defiant act of remembrance that whispers, this is who we are. So, let us raise our cups, not just in tradition, but in awe, for in keeping Passover, we don’t merely recount the past—we revive its power for today!

Brethren, before I go, let me pray this prayer for you: May Yahweh bless you and keep you; may Yahweh make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may Yahweh lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
