In Exodus 31:13, Yahweh declares, “You must observe my Sabbath. This will be a sign between Me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am Yahweh, who makes you holy.” This verse highlights the importance of the Sabbath as a sacred commitment between Elohim and His people, a sign of their identity as holy and set apart for Him.
Throughout the Bible, the Sabbath is emphasized as a day of rest and worship, a time set aside for reflection, renewal, and communion with Elohim. It serves as a reminder of Yahweh’s creative power, His deliverance from slavery, and His ongoing presence among His people.
By observing the Sabbath, Yahweh’s people demonstrate their obedience and devotion to Him, recognizing His authority and sovereignty over their lives. The Sabbath is not just a day off or a religious tradition; it is a spiritual discipline that deepens our connection with Elohim and fosters a sense of community and unity among believers.
As followers of Yahshua the Messiah, we are called to honor the Sabbath and keep it holy, just as Elohim commanded the Israelites. By setting aside time for rest, worship, and spiritual growth, we affirm our commitment to Yahweh and acknowledge His sovereignty in our lives.
In a world filled with business, noise, and distractions, the Sabbath offers a sacred space for us to pause, reflect, and realign our hearts with Elohim’s purposes. It is a gift from Yahweh, a precious opportunity to draw closer to Him and experience His peace and presence in our lives.
However, it is crucial to remember that the Sabbath begins at Friday sunset and ends at Saturday sunset. This time frame is significant in honoring Yahweh’s command to rest and worship on the seventh day of the week.
Do not forget that the Sabbath is not Sunday; it never was! Yes, by observing the Sabbath from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, we align ourselves with the biblical pattern established by Elohim and demonstrate our obedience to His directive.
So, as we mark the Sabbath as a covenant sign, let us honor its sacred timing from Friday evening to Saturday evening, setting aside this period for rest, reflection, and worship in accordance with Yahweh’s holy commandment.
Therefore, let us heed the words of Exodus 31:13 and honor the Sabbath as a covenant sign of our faithfulness to Yahweh, our Elohim. May we set aside time each week to rest, worship, and commune with Him, knowing that in doing so, we affirm our identity as His holy people and bear witness to His transformative power in our lives.
Let us embrace the Sabbath as a sacred gift and walk in obedience to Yahweh’s commandments, trusting that He will bless and sanctify us as we honor Him with our time and devotion.
